Full Tilt Poker Hit with Yet another Lawsuit

It’s hard to imagine how Full Tilt Poker will ever recover from all the beating it has been taking from various parties in the past few months. It used to be the second largest poker site in the entire web, but it had fallen so far and so low since April 15 that it’s difficult to fathom how it’s ever going to get back up. However, if there’s one thing that the Black Friday incident proved, it’s that the good guys don’t always finish last. I’m not saying that PokerStars is absolutely clean, just that it evidently ran a much cleaner operation than Full Tilt. When push came to shove, PokerStars was able to bounce back while Full Tilt only got sucked deeper and deeper into the muck. Now, Full Tilt’s facing another class action lawsuit, this time filed by Canadian players.

About the Lawsuit

Zayn Jetha and Donald Whelan, two former customers of Full Tilt Poker from Canada, have filed a class action lawsuit against Howard Lederer, Nelson Burtnick, and Ray Bitar. The lawsuit is filed in the name of all Full Tilt’s customers, particularly those who have money that’s yet to be returned. This does not just mean Americans or Canadians. Even those from other countries, as long as they were also victims of the debacle, would benefit from the lawsuit. What annoys people the most about Full Tilt these days is the fact that they had enough money – £250,000 worth – to pay to the AGCC but nothing to give to the players. It really makes one question whether or not Full Tilt really is bereft of money. Furthermore, all the debts that Full Tilt had issued to their licensed poker pros is beginning to come to light, and it’s not exactly going over well with the players. Indeed, Full Tilt’s in deep trouble, and it’s certainly surprising that there’s still a group interested in it even after all this.

The Second Time Around

This lawsuit isn’t actually the first of its kind. In fact, this lawsuit is scarcely different from the class action lawsuit filed by US players last month. The main difference between the two is the fact that they’re naming far less people in this lawsuit than the US Players have. Absurdly, all Full Tilt poker pros were named in the lawsuit except for Tom Dwan. This lawsuit filed by the Canadian players is certainly less complicated, but still as damning for Full Tilt.
