Poker League Releases Tournament Schedule

When news came out that a new Poker League was being created, everyone was pretty much elated. Poker had yet to create such an organization, after all, and the time was certainly more than ripe for action to be taken. Now, they’ve taken everything one step further and released a new tournament schedule.

The Stage is Set

Federated Sports and Gaming, with Commissioner Annie Duke, has just set the stage for one of the biggest poker events of the year. Only the biggest poker pros can take place so the battles are sure to be huge and action-packed. As you might remember, the league gives out some sort of membership card that qualifies players for a year, three, or for a lifetime. Now, those members will come together on the 12th of August for the Inaugural event, which is a Pro-Am Event which will run for a total of three days. On the 14th, the league will hold a charity event. Then finally, when the first event is concluded, the main event will begin, running from the 16th of August to the 19th. The second tournament schedule will follow the same format as the first, with a Pro-am event opener, a Charity Event, concluded by the Main Event.

It will run from September 30 to October 7. The Third tournament schedule will be held from December 1 to December 10 and the fourth schedule will run from January 20 to 27. Finally, there’s going to be a championship event on January 29 to 30, where only the best of the best will battle it out.

What to Expect

Details about the tournament structures are still pretty sparse these days, though they did say that each league main event will have a different format. There’s going to be a six-max and heads-up format and a “special multi-format tournament”, though nobody knows what exactly this ‘special multi-format tournament’ will actually be like. Also, according to Duke, the main event will begin with about 200 players. That’s a pretty small number, but then, with the league’s exclusivity, you can be very certain that the action will be like nothing we’ve ever seen before.

The prizes are sure to be hefty, and Duke has already promised that there would be no rake – that alone is incentive enough for the pros to get their act together and avail of the ‘temporary league cards’. It’ll be interesting to see who will be getting permanent ones though.
