XWINK becomes New High Stakes Mystery Player

The Swedes aren’t the only ones with an affinity for being mysterious high stakes players. XWINK, an unknown player from Vancouver, Canada, is tearing up the nosebleed tables and challenging the likes of Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, and Patrik Antonius. Rumor has it that he started out with a $4,000 deposit on Full Tilt and went on to grind that amount all the way up to $2 million.

Who is XWINK?

There isn’t much known about XWINK, as he has only been active on the Full Tilt Poker nosebleed tables for the past two weeks. What’s amazing, though, is that in that small time frame, XWINK managed to challenge most of the high stakes regulars there, not just Ivey, Dwan, and Antonius, but also Scott “URnotINdanger2” Palmer, Rui Cao, Jared “harrington25” Bleznick, David Benefield, and Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen. He began with a $4,000 deposit and quickly moved up the ranks, winning himself a spiffy $2 million. XWINK played mostly $500/$1,000 pot-limit Omaha to get where he’s at, with Cao and Benefield as his two biggest victims. XWINK, however, ran into Cole South at the $300/$600 PLO tables and went through one of the biggest downswings. He lost nearly $500,000 at that game.

His luck didn’t fare too well after that as his total losses all in all came to an astounding $1.2 million. Still, he hasn’t completely lost all he gained over the past two weeks, so it’s all good. There are some people saying that XWINK probably won’t survive for too long, though. Indeed, these high stakes hot shots sometimes win big only to lose even bigger and soon fade into obscurity. Full Tilt isn’t XWINK’s first poker room, though. It’s not yet confirmed, but it’s widely believed that XWINK is XBLINK from UB.com. XBLINK started with $11 and turned it to $800,000 in just one month back in 2009.

Not Impressed

However, while many people were very much impressed with how XWINK handles his games. According to them, XWINK only ever plays very short sessions. That’s one way of making sure that nobody gets the hang of your playing style enough to start winning against you. Also, XWINK is only single-tabling, which makes it easier for him to concentrate on the said game. Still, if he’s winning millions, then he must be doing something right, at least. He’s not as big a sensation as Isildur1 was, but he’s certainly interesting enough.
