WSOPE Main Event Championship Day 1A Concluded

The first day of the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event attracted a total of 310 players, and at the end of the day, Jamie Rosen will be leading the pack of remaining players on to the next day in regards to chip count. This could also be one of the biggest WSOPE events as of today.

Possibly a Record Breaking Event

A total of 310 players participated in the first day of the 2011 WSOPE Main Event, and more will be coming on the next. Last year, the main event saw a total of 346 players and at the very end of the tournament, and it was James Bord who climbed up to the top and took the title. This year, the number of players will probably exceed last year’s count, and possibly even the record size of 362 players from the WSOPE’s previous years. This year could be a very important year for the WSOPE as it might set a new record in overall participants.

Busts on Day 1A

During the first day, a lot of prominent faces showed up including Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan, Chris Moorman, Sam Stein, and a lot more. Although a lot of the notable players got eliminated during the first day including Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan, Jason Mercier, Sam Stein, Justin Bonomo, Matt Stout, and a few others as well. Phil Hellmuth, although highly unusually of getting eliminated during the first day of an event, saw his demise when he went against Michael Telker. Hellmuth was already playing the short stack of the table. Hellmuth only had a K high apart from the pair of 5’s on the board, and against Telker’s A high, there’s not much left for Hellmuth in the end.

Chip Count for the Day

At the end of the day, it was Jamie Rosen who bagged the most chips with his 162,700, as less than 200 players remain. Of course, there were also a number of players who are prepared for the challenges for the next day having acquired a ton of chips including Dermot Blain with a good 123,500 chips, Chris Moorman, with a total of 121,775 chips, Darren Elias with a nice 111,400 chips, Leo Boxell with a close 110,900, Emil Patel with 109,000 chips, and Johnny Chan with 108,350 chips for the next day. On the next day, more players will be coming in, and competition will ultimately be tougher for everyone.
