Struggling DevilFish Poker sells for £330k

According to iGamingBusiness.com, DevilFish Gaming has sold Devilfish Poker to unnamed buyer for £330,000. The online poker site initially met with much fanfare, and shares sold well bringing in over £1 million in its first public offering, and peaking at £3.2 million in 2008, but since then the site has failed to post one profitable quarter, and has been one of the most disappointing online poker rooms in the industry.

Devilfish Poker began life on the Exscapa Poker Network before moving to the Entraction Poker Network, and as the site’s co-founder and most recognizable face David “Devilfish” Ullliot struggled to continue his success, failing to make a big splash in the new mass-media poker world, the site’s brand struggled as well.

PokerNews.com reports that Devilfish Poker has 18,500 registered users, but only 5,000 or so are real-money players, and recent reports show that the site has only 525 active real-money players per month.

At this time it is unclear what the future of Devilfish Poker will be, it may just be absorbed by the new owners or scrapped. It’s also unknown what the current status of Ulliott is with the site, and whether he will now become a ‘free-agent’ in the poker world looking for a sponsorship deal. Although Ulliott is not a top-tier name capable of carrying a site on his own, he is still a widely recognized brand thanks to his larger than life personality and past results.
