UB Poker

Looking back at UB Poker History

UB Poker has remained among the top ten online poker sites since it’s first incarnation as Ultimate Bet in 1999. While re-branded it is still one of the longest running online casinos on the net. Ultimate Bet merged with Absolute Poker in 2008 to form the Cereus Network. The change was in more than name only. UB has adopted an elegant new look and improved software. Cereus Network has the sixth highest traffic rating in the world and it accepts U.S. players.

The change in name came shortly after Ultimate Bet was scandalized by a group of it’s employees who inserted a “cheat code” into the Ultimate Bet software. From 2005 to 2007 these unscrupulous employees were able to see other player’s hole cards and cheated players out of millions. When the culprits were finally caught Ultimate Bet immediately provided restitution to all of the players who had been duped.

Since then the company has become UB and changed both ownership as well as management. The revamp of the site was to provide safer, more secure software and a better play environment. UB has been going strong since then and has several celebrities in it’s stable. They include Annie Duke and possibly most infamously, Phil Hellmuth the “Brat Prince of Poker”. They and the rest of team UB can be found among the thousands who call UB their virtual home casino.

Games Available (8/10)

UB currently offers the standard array of Blackjack, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, Elimination Blackjack (EBJ), H.O.S.E, H.O.R.S.E., Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, Razz and Texas Hold’em. The competition is tougher than many of their online counterparts and makes for challenging play.
