Last night Tom “durrrr” Dwan was probably feeling a bit if déjà vu, as the poker pro found himself on the losing end after a heads-up session of $500/$1,000 PLO against the anonymous Cadillac1944. The $740,000 loss Dwan suffered must have seemed eerily similar to last year when Dwan was utterly hammered at the poker tables in November and December, mostly at the hands of Isildur1.
According to highstakesdb.com Dwan’s battle with ‘Cadillac1944’ –that lasted over 1,000 hands—was preceded by a session of $100/$200 PLO against Bttech86. Bttech86 was able to best Dwan to the tune of nearly $220,000 putting durrrr’s losses for the day at just under $1 million!
Dwan ran into a number of coolers against Cadillac1944, including running middle set into top set; having Cadillac1944 again flop top set and fill-up on the river (no word on Dwan’s holding as his cards were mucked; and finally having a monster draw absolutely coolered on a board of 8c-Tc-2d –Dwan held 7h-4c-6h-9c and Cadillac1944 held Ac-Kc-6c-9d for a better flush draw as well as blockers to Dwan’s straight draw.
Dwan is still one of online poker’s biggest winners for the year, with over $3 million in profits according to the high-stakes tracking site highstakesdb.com, but as we have seen in the past the nosebleed games can make for some very large swings in a short amount of time.
