European Poker Tour Barcelona Day 2: Xavier Carrugi Takes the Lead

It was an overall exciting day at the European Poker Tour as the day started with 407 players and ended with only 141 players to proceed to the third day of the tour. The interesting part of the second day of the tour is that Xavier Carrugi, who consistently let his chip stack grow, started from a humble 38k chips and blinds at 500/1000. Carrugi was basically a small time player during most of the day, but he managed to get rid of his anonymity when he became the leader of the pack on to the third day.

The Players

There were many recognizable faces that joined in on day 2 of the EPT Barcelona. One of which was Annand “Victor” Ramdin which went against Sam El Sayed. Ramdin ultimately triumphed over El Sayed with his double ace and put an end to their rivalry for the day. Chris Moorman was also around and was doing well, consistently building up his chip count for the day. Previous chip leader from Day 1B Guillaume Darcourt has still managed to do well for the day and still fared well at the seventh place in chip holdings. Of course, there were also plenty of players that were eliminated during day 2 of the EPT Barcelona and these players include Jonathan Duhamel, Sepastian Ruthenberg, Jason Mercier, Nacho Barbero, Kent Lundmark, Ronny Kaiser, Jon Spinks, and Max Silver.

Chip Rankings on to Day 3

By the end of the day, Xavier Carrugi has managed to lead the pack to day three at first place in chip holdings with a total of 577,700 chips in his arsenal. Toni Pettersson of Finland sits on second place with his 534,100 chips in his pockets. On third place is Martin Schleich who qualified through PokerStars with a total of 453,400 chips. Israeli player Saar Wilf has done well and managed to sit on fourth place with 430,700 chips. On fifth place is Raul Mestre from Spain with a total of 404,900 chips. Dmitrij Fadeev from Germany sits on the sixth place with a nice 380,200 and not far behind him is Guillaume Darcourt with 380,100 chips on seventh place.
