Federated Sports and Gaming Absorbs Heartland Poker Tour

It really looks like the Federated Sports and Gaming is now making its move and solidifying its plans for its own poker tour. After creating a board of members, they have now acquired the Heartland Poker Tour, one of the most significant poker companies in the Midwest. This company has organized and hosted 90 events since 2005 and is one of the most popular tours in the country.

About the Heartland Poker Tour

The Heartland Poker Tour is a very popular poker event in the United States. It has stops in some really wonderful casinos such as the Golden Nugget, Reno, and the Red Rock Resort. Yearly, it attracts thousands of poker players all over the country and builds up a prize pool of more than $28.6 million. It’s a very popular stop for players who want a friendly but still competitive atmosphere. It’s not as intense as the WSOP per se, but it’s still great for those looking for a nice win. Furthermore, its player base is very loyal, so if you’re out to make some friends along with some money, then the Heartland Poker Tour’s right for you.

On the Federated Sports + Gaming

As for the Federated Sports + Gaming, this is the poker industry’s attempt to make a regulating body for the game to give it a more professional image. The price for which it paid in order to acquire the Heartland Poker tour has not yet been disclosed, and it doesn’t seem likely that they will ever disclose it. But that’s hardly important. For players, this seems like a really auspicious marriage of two poker institutions. The HPT has been around for only a little more than 5 years, but it has already established itself. On the other hand, the Federated Sports + Gaming is only starting out. Its first season will kick off this August at the Palms Casino and Resort. There will also be more events this September, December, and January, with 200 of the best poker players invited to join in.

The federation is made up of some of the most gilded names in the poker industry, Annie Duke among them, so it’s sure to be a pretty huge success. Indeed, from here on out, it looks like the Heartland Poker Tour will get much more publicity and the Federation will also benefit from the tour’s established reputation.
