High Stakes Poker Season 7 starts shooting Nov 18

High Stakes PokerGSN is definitely not pulling the plug on High Stakes Poker anytime soon. The highly popular poker telecast, which features top poker players competing for ungodly sums of money in a high-stakes cash game at the Bellagio, is back for its 7th Season.

GSN announced they will begin taping for Season 7 of High Stakes Poker on November 18th, with episodes scheduled to air sometime in February.

Once again Gabe Kaplan will be flying solo in the broadcast booth, with Kara Scott acting as co-host on the floor. Dduring the first 5 seasons of High Stakes Poker Kaplan was joined with co-host AJ Benza, and the two seemed to have a lot of chemistry in the booth, but Benza was let go prior to Season 6.

HSP now has some serious competition in the form of PokerStars.net The Big Game, which features a similar style of high-stakes cash games, combined with the inclusion of an online qualifier who is staked $100,000 by PokerStars. We’ll have to wait and see how The Big Game affects High Stakes Poker’s ratings –the two games could actually feed off one another and be mutually beneficial.

It will be interesting to see if Daniel Negreanu returns to the show now that he is the face of PokerStars and headlines the episodes of the PokerStars.net Big Game. GSN has yet to release a lineup for Season 7 of High Stakes Poker.
