Phil Hellmuth Geared to Take his 12th Bracelet

The excitement’s really building up at the World Series of Poker 2011 as the pros finally step up to make their voices heard. All of the bracelets issued up to this point were won by first-time winners, but it looks like Phil Hellmuth – record holder for having the most number of WSOP bracelets – is going to be the first one to take another one for himself: the fateful 12th. However, it’s not going to be an easy road for him. Nearly all of the players on the final table have all won WSOP bracelets in their careers. It’s one of the toughest final tables ever. Even the only player who hasn’t won a bracelet yet is a formidable foe. Joe Cassidy is widely considered to e one of the best mixed game players in the entire world, and he’s most probably seeing this as his initiation into the elite group of WSOP bracelet owners.

Hellmuth’s 12th

This event is sure to be one of the most watched events in this year’s WSOP, mainly because its final table is made up of a highly interesting set of players. Most interesting, of course, is Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth is the record-holder for most number of WSOP bracelets. He currently has 11, and if he wins this one, he’s going to have 12, further securing his place as one of the industry’s best. However, Hellmuth’s stack is a bit on the short side. If he can turn things around, however, then he’ll have made history yet again.

Going for Gold

Of course, Phil Hellmuth’s not the only one geared to take the title. His opponents, as mentioned, are pretty tough. All of them have won bracelets at least once in their lives, except for Joe Cassidy. But Cassidy has made a name for himself in the industry and is widely considered as one of the best in the industry. Also on the final table was David “Bakes” Baker. Baker also has a big incentive to win. He won this exact same event last year, and he could be looking at back-to-back bracelets if he wins this one. Also on the final table is John Juanda. Juanda has the shortest stack, but he could still turn that around if he’s patient enough. Other pros in the final table include Nick Schulman, Greg Raymer, Steve Sung, and Hasan Habib.
