Rounders sequel in the works

RoundersWith its new owners in place Film Company Miramax is looking to cash in on some of its previous blockbusters and cult classics by producing sequels according to firstshowing.net; one of the first films to make the list was the 1998 cult classic Rounders, starring Matt Damon and Edward Norton. Although Rounders was box office flop, the film’s legacy has grown to epic proportions with the rise of the poker culture in America, so it’s not surprising Miramax would look to cash in on this.

Other films slated for sequels and special edition releases include Miramax classics: Bad Santa, Shakespeare in Love, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Copland, From Dusk Till Dawn, Swingers, Clerks, Shall We Dance and Amityville Horror.

This is not the first we’ve heard of a Rounders sequel, but is by far the most credible. No word yet on any details, such as plot-lines, cast, or even potential filming and release dates.

Firstshowing.net also stated that earlier this year, Disney sold Miramax to Ron Tutor’s Filmyard Holdings LLC, which has held off on all projects until the company’s staff was in place. Commenting on the sequels, TWC COO David Glasser stated, “This is the perfect addition to our ongoing slate, giving us the ability to work on already existing franchises that have had such lucrative success at the box office, as well as a great starting ground to our newfound relationship,”.
