WPT visits Las Vegas this week

The Bellagio Resort and Casino is a true landmark on the Vegas Strip – very few properties can rival the pomp and sizzle of this ultra-luxe venue. As such, the World Poker Tour Festa al lago event shares this rare air as one of the most desired stops on the WPT calendar each year. Until this year, the Main Event has commanded a $15,000 buy in but to encourage a larger field (last years Main Event had just 275 players) it’s been lowered to $10,000.

By the time this event airs on television you can expect to see several changes with the shows format as well as the on-air personalities. Kimberly Lansing has returned and will play a higher profile role (read: more air time) interacting with the players. Also, Matt Savage – the legendary Tournament Director with literally hundreds of major events under his belt will serve as MC for all WPT events. Matt inked a deal earlier with WPT to serve as their de facto Tournament Director, helping bring credibility to a sanction (WPT) that had been criticized in the past for the way they’ve structured tournaments.

All in all, the positive changes are something the producers of the show hope will turn into better ratings, bigger fields, and more action on the felt. Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten return as the primary announcers so make sure to tune into this one once the air date is announced!
