Post Oak Bluff – noun
A Post Oak Bluff is a term that was first used back in the 70′s according to Doyle Brunson. Essentially it’s a bluff bet disguised to look like a value bet. The logic being that your opponent, assuming that he/she is not a complete Donkey will believe that you’re holding a very powerful hand and that you’re betting because you WANT a call.
This term is rarely used in modern day poker terms but remains a valid descriptor when trying to buy a pot on a bluff.
I completely missed my flush draw but put this other guy on a small pair, since the board had several scare cards I figured a Post Oak Bluff would get him to lay down his smaller pair.
