Erik Seidel Wins the $100,000 Super High Roller Event

It was a battle between two Eric’s in the $100,000 Super High Roller Event at the WPT, with Erik Seidel coming up against Erik Lindgren as they return for the conclusion of the Heads Up match that they chose to continue another day during final table play. In the end, however, Seidel was relentless, and it was him who won the tournament, earning himself $1,092,000 as well as the title.

Heads Up Between Two Erics

It was sure to be a tough battle between Lindgren and Seidel, since both were very formidable poker players. Seidel went into the second part of the heads up play with a considerable lead over Lindgren. It really looked like he would hold on to it until the end, but Lindgren was no easy opponent. In a certain hand where they both went all in, Seidel had managed to get a flush when the flop was revealed. Confident, he went all in with his chips. Lindgren only had two pair, but then the turn gave him a full house. That hand allowed Lindgren to retake the lead from Seidel. However, Seidel wasn’t going to give up the title that easy. Seidel soon took back the lead, winning several hands and swiftly gaining more and more chips until Lindgren could no longer catch up. During the final hand, Lindgren had Jc3h while Seidel had Ah5h. The flop was revealed to be Ac4c2c. Both players had chances of winning, but the turn was revealed to be 9d and the river was 2s. The victory went to Erik Seidel, who took home the title as well as the grand prize of $1.09 million.

Seidel’s Progress

So far, Seidel has been having the most stellar runs of his career. He now has $5.4 million worth of winnings in just this year alone, and the WSOP hasn’t even begun yet. He’s certainly in the running for the player of the year award of many poker publications. Still, it hasn’t been an easy road for Seidel. He admitted that the final table he faced on this one was the “toughest” he ever played. Indeed, it wasn’t hard to believe him, what with Daniel Negreanu, Justin Bonomo, and Vivek Rajkumar in the table. It was certainly a star-studded field, and beating those guys probably wasn’t easy at all. Still, Seidel’s at the best of his game, and this win just takes him one step further.
