Full Tilt Poker’s Overdue Fees to AGCC Paid

It seems as if poker players have yet another reason to worry as news was released that Full Tilt Poker managed to pay its overdue fees to the Alderney Gambling Control Commission or the AGCC. People are afraid that this will once again lessen the urgency in which the investigation is going and thereby stall any movement towards paying out the US customers. On the other hand, it could also be a good thing because it would free Full Tilt to pursue negotiations.

The Story so Far

With the evidence of Full Tilt Poker being incompetent in paying out its customers become increasingly apparent, the AGCC decided to suspend Full Tilt Poker’s license, and the site has since then been unable to operate. The whole affair culminated in a hearing last July 26 – or should I say, would have culminated, had it not been for the AGCC’s decision to grant FTP’s request to postpone the hearing. They also managed to convince the AGCC to hold the hearing in private so that the deal would not be compromised. As a result, the media was ushered out from the room and the only thing people really found out about the status of Full Tilt Poker is that it’s behind on its AGCC fee – which FTP promised to pay as soon as possible.

Paying the Fees

Sure enough, Full Tilt soon came up with the money to pay the overdue fees, but there was still no guarantee that their license would be reinstated should they choose to do so. However, the payment of these fees – though still incomplete – gives FTP at least the chance to get the decision on their suspension reversed. The AGCC believes that it’s in the best interests of the players if they do so. After all, if FTP does manage to bounce back from this entire ordeal, it’s entirely possible – though it will be no doubt difficult – for it to regain some of its players, especially if the management changes. Of course, there’s still no guarantee that FTP will be able to reopen their doors before the next AGCC hearing occurs, but if it does, then hopefully FTP will be able to facilitate the payment of funds. It’s what’s most important today if FTP wants to regain the trust of its players. It’s understandable why they want to hush things up for the sake of the deal’s completion, but hopefully the owners of FTP will be sincere in their wish to pay people back.
