Peter “Ebay” Eastgate’s WSOP Bracelet update

We first reported a few days ago that 2008 World Series of Poker Champ Peter Eastgate put his bracelet up for sale on Ebay. The poker pro announced his retirement from poker not very long ago and with this follow up, is clearly serious about leaving that life behind. The auction for his bracelet however has now taken on a life of it’s own…

While bidding started out slow, things really got heated when the press started covering the auction. The auction itself is somewhat nondescript with the following description:

The unique piece of a Corum bracelet weighs 168 and is made of 18kt White Gold paved with 291 diamonds and the face, which says “World Series of Poker 2008”, is Hand painted in silver and decorated with black and red card suits.

100% of the proceeds are going to his charity of choice but unlike many celebrity auctions, this one doesn’t have the pizazz of similar high profile auctions. So what is driving the bidding which now stands at 55 bids total with a current price of $53,800.00?

You could speculate many things – There are poker players out there with the bankroll to pay six figures for such a prize. Perhaps a museum somewhere wants it for their display. Maybe a jeweler wants it to resale or melt down and part out the 291 diamonds that are embedded in the bracelet.

Or perhaps it’s the boast by Tony G that he wants the bracelet to make into a collar for his dog.

And he’s willing to pay big bucks to get it – to use his own words “Don’t mess with my blind” (or his bid in this case). The flamboyant gambler certainly has the bankroll to buy this thing and now that he’s essentially challenged the rest of the high stakes poker world to a pissing match, it’s certain to drive the bidding even higher.

How high?

We won’t know the answer for another five days.

When the auction is over.

Stay Tuned.
