European Poker Tour London: James Mitchell in the Lead

As the third day of the 2011 European Poker Tour Main Event has come to a conclusion, it was player James Mitchel who climbed at the very top of the chip count rankings on to the day 4 of the event. The thing is that Mitchell has a pretty huge lead over his nearest opponent in terms of chip count, with his chip count just got past the 1 million mark. Of the 159 players who came in at the start of day 3, only 62 players remain in the end. It was a pretty quick turn of events as the top 104 players will be walking out with cash on their pockets.

The Third Day

At the start of the third day of the EPT in London, it was Benny Spindler who led in regards to chip count. As the day progressed, Spindler slowly moved down the ranks up until the day ended with him on twelfth. James Mitchel however started the day on eleventh in chip count, and has made some progress during late in the day. One of his notable plays was seen when he was up against Christopher McClung. The board read 9 spades, 8 diamonds, 4 hearts, 9 clubs, and 8 hearts. The thing is that Mitchell had an A diamonds and Q clubs, which did not really go well with the board. Of course, he was also pretty lucky as Christopher only had a pocket of 6’s and Mitchell eventually had the winning hand because of the kicker. Later on the day, Mitchell was yet again able to take a chunk of chips from another player, this time, from Nikolas Liakos. While Liakos had the upper hand when he received his card , which is a couple of K’s, Mitchell on the other hand only had a couple of 9’s. Again, fortunately for Mtichell, the flop read 10, 9, 4, which gave him the 9 that he needed in order to make a set and beat Liakos’ hand.

Chip Counts on to Day 4

As mentioned earlier, James Mitchell has a huge lead over the others with his 1,071,500 chips. The next player in regards to chip count is Sam Macdonald with a total of 860,000, which is more than 200k apart from Mitchell’s chip count. On third is Martins Adeniya, with 786,800 chips on his arsenal for the next day. On fourth is Basile Yaiche, who has a pretty good 756,500 chips. Matthijs Remie sits on fifth place with a total of 732,500 chips in his arsenal. Ben Jenkins sits well on sixth with his 721,000 chips for day 4. On seventh is Adria Balaguer from Spain, who’s following Balaguer closely from behind with 721,000. Not far from Belaguer is Sandor Demjan with 691,000 chips. Neil Pearce, just 500 chips apart from Demjan sits on ninth with 690,500 chips. Finally, Kevin Iacofano sits on the tenth spot with a good 618,000.
