Isaac Haxton confirmed for PokerStars Superstar Showdown

Isildur1’s first opponent in the Superstar Showdown challenge matches has finally been confirmed by PokerStars, and the player who will go down in poker history as Isildur1’s first challenger is none other than PokerStars Team Pro player Isaac Haxton.

Haxton is one of the top tournament poker players in the world, and the young superstar has already racked nearly $3 million in live tournament winnings since his runner-up finish in the 2007 PokerStars PCA where he pocketed an impressive $861k.

Haxton, who uses the screen-name philivey2694 on PokerStars, and Isildur1, whose identity is still officially unknown at this point, will be playing a total of 2,500 hands spread across four $50/$100 No Limit Holdem tables, and both will be risking $150,000 of their own money for the challenge match. PokerStars is offering the added bounty of $10,000 to the player who prevails at the end of the 2,500 hands.

According to the PokerStars blog the match will take place on December 19th at 6PM and will be viewable by anyone on PokerStars. My guess is the rail will be packed with players interested in seeing Isildur1 get a chance to show off his NLHE chops, a game very few are willing to change him in, which has forced him to switch to PLO just to get a game!
