EPT London champ wins UKIPT Champion of Champions event

Just a day after winning the PokerStars European Poker Tour London tournament –and an impressive £900,000 in the process- David Vamplew was invited to play in the United Kingdom Irish Poker Tour (UKIPT) Champion of Champions tournament, which featured a lineup of the all of the season’s winners, as well as the EPT London winner.

In addition to Vamplew, the lineup for the single-table tournament included Padraig Parkinson, Nick Risk, Jamie Burland, Andrew Couldridge, Max Silver, Femi Fakinle, Gilles Augustus, and Joeri Zandvliet. The winner of the event would receive an entry into every stop on the UKIPT for Season 2, as well as an entry into the EPT London Main Event.

In the end David Vamplew found himself heads-up against a very game Jamie Burland –who captured the UKIPT Brighton title— but David carried over his momentum from the EPT the previous day to win the STT and what amounts to about £14,000 in buy-in fees. When asked about his second win in as many days, he said, “It’s pretty good; after yesterday, it’s the icing on the cake.”

The first stop on the upcoming season of the PokerStars UKIPT will be in Galway, Ireland for a £1,000 buy-in tournament, and will take place from December 2nd through the 5th.
