Viktor Blom Returns to the Online Poker Tables

Viktor Blom (21), who is also widely known by his online poker alias ‘Isildur1’, has been a player at PokerStars since late 2010. He is considered one of the biggest draws that the online poker site has. His exciting heads-up play against other superstars on the online poker scene as well as his intense cash games for high stakes have made him one of PokerStars biggest fan attractions.

Hiatus from the Online Poker Scene

For a period of three months, Blom had been missing from the site’s cash games. Naturally, this sparked much speculation as to the cause of his hiatus. Some of the rumors were that he had disagreed with some of the other players on the site and that he had switched over to a new online poker room. Some fans believed that he had begun sharing an online poker account with a friend as a way to regain his anonymity after unveiling himself as Isildur1 at the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

Triumphant Return to the Poker Tables

Despite his brief time away from online poker, Blom returned with a vengeance, to PokerStars and played heads up $100 and $200 Pot-Limit Omaha games as well as six-max tables. He took home approximately $1.6 million that he won from playing against several other top online poker players such as Phil ‘MrSweets28’ Galfond, Fake Love888, VietRussian, Jens ‘Jeans89’ Kyllonen, Brian ‘aba20’ Townsend and Terken89.

Viktor is famous for his mercurial play, swinging between winning and losing. He lived up to his reputation with a incredible winning streak that lasted 12 hours, followed by losing much of his stack the next day. Despite the abrupt change in fortune, Blom was able to win almost $1.2 million playing at PokerStars over the course of 2011.

Blom’s 12 Hour Winning Streak

Blom won a crucial pot after being dealt Kc-Qd-Jd-Ad. His opponent, VietRussian held 9h-Td-7s-8x. The flop read out Ts-Ac-7h and both players went all-in. The turn card was 2d which didn’t affect either player’s hand. However, the Qd that appeared on the river managed to win Blom the hefty sum of $214,000.

By the time his winning streak concluded, he had managed to win himself the third place on the leader-board of the PokerStars cash games (2011). Accompanying him are fellow poker pros, Rafael Amit and Ilari Sahamies.

The day after he won the big pot, Blom was back at play. Unfortunately, his luck failed him and he ended up losing most of the money that he had won the previous day, bringing his stack down to $800,000.
