As the eyes of online poker players have been opened by the Black Friday incident back in April, many of them have started to move on while some eventually gave up on the subject and quit playing professionally online. What the poker players need now is more support to make sure online poker sites are legal and safe. A clear definition of legal online gambling sites must be given out to make sure that no one is breaking any rules which, in turn sets the minds of the poker players at ease.
Congressman Michael Grimm recently announced he supports the goal of a FairPlayUSA – a recently formed organization to battle illegal gambling establishments on the internet and make it safe for online gambling.
Congressman Michael Grimm Supports Online Poker
Congressman Michael Grimm, former FBI agent promotes the effort of the newly formed coalition, the FairPlayUSA, which is aimed primarily at making poker gaming or other forms of gambling on the internet safe again. The organization basically focuses on the identification of safe and legal poker or gambling sites in order for the players to know exactly where to go for these quality games and services. The Congressman, who is a former FBI agent, believes that illegal poker and gambling establishments on the internet may be involved in organized crime and he aims to put a stop to them.
FairPlayUSA and Online Gambling
FairPlayUSA Board of Advisors include Greg Raymer who is the 2004 WSOP main event champion, Tom Ridge, former governor of Pennsylvania and Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, and Parry Aftab who is an expert on internet security.
There have been many groups formed that are against the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 and the newly formed FairPlayUSA is not one of them as it aims to make sure that the act is strictly followed. Don’t misunderstand though; the coalition is formed to further strengthen the act in order to make sure that the safe and legal gambling establishments are identified and the illegal ones to be taken down by the government. This in turn gives players safe destinations for gaming without giving them something to worry about when it comes to the law. FairPlayUSA actually wants to help the government crack down on these illegal gambling establishments on the internet by making the people’s voice heard on the congress, which seems to be working.
