Daniel Negreanu’s Impressive Performance at the WCOOP

If you don’t know who Daniel Negreanu is, he’s basically one of the most prominent faces in the poker world. He is recently considered to be the eleventh top live tournament players based on Global Index Points which is calculated on the performance of the player during live tournaments. Now, Negreanu has proven that not only is he good at live poker tournaments, but he also fares well against online poker players as well by being able to profit from 15 different tourneys during this year’s World Championship of Online Poker, which puts him at second place in overall winnings. The interesting thing about it is that Negreanu was actually pretty busy during the tournaments as he was traveling to four different parts of the world up until he reached London.

Daniel Negreanu’s Preparation

Negreanu is the face of PokerStars, and is also part of PokerStars’ elite team. Although Negreanu is a well known poker pro in the various live tournaments, he openly admitted that his performance in his online poker dealings weren’t as great. “If I’m being completely honest, my online tournament results have never been very good, and the main reason for that is that just never really cared too much,” he said. “But since the WCOOP has become such a prestigious event, I wanted to do the best I could, which meant preparation.” Of course, he also mentioned that he prepared for the event by having a system based on the statistics of his opponents by noting them in various games. He was also playing different variations of the game before the WCOOP, which greatly boosted his skills in them.

From Four Different Locations

Playing online poker is the most convenient way to enjoy the game as you won’t even have to leave the comforts of your own home. In Negreanu’s case however, things were different. Negreanu is a busy man, and he needed to do some travelling during the span of time that was covered by the WCOOP. Negreanu then ended up playing from four different locations just to participate in 52 of the 62 events of the WCOOP. Negreanu played from four different parts of the world, namely Barcelona, Montenegro, Budapest, and London.

In the end, Negreanu’s preparation really did pay off even if his busy schedule was pretty demanding of his time. Negreanu is, without a doubt one of the best players out there, both in live tournaments and in online ones as well.
