Finland Losing Interest in Online Poker

Things turn for the worse for online poker players as more and more parts of the world are losing interest in online poker destinations due to the many conflicts of these sites with laws. The issue here is the safety and reliability of the online poker sites and there are quite a number of these sites that don’t pass as legal establishments.

Finland’s Dying Poker Scene

Finland was doing well with online poker during the later years of the first decade of 2000 but things come to a different turn as issues with the legality of online poker sites are being questioned by governments. The surge in popularity in online poker with the recent years has quickly turned to a different route as governments are becoming more and more conscious of the activities of online gambling establishments. Finland in this case, is losing interest in the online version of the game and this is terrible news for those who are looking forward to professionally making money through the game by online means.

This all started back in the Black Friday incident when the US Department of Justice shut down a number of poker sites, some of which are big names in the industry.

Proposed Solution

Finland’s move on the matter is to limit the number of foreign websites for its citizens who wish to earn through professionally engaging in the game. Although this is the proposed solution for the issue, players feel that the move isn’t at all beneficial on their part. The number of people who still actually try to earn cash from playing has noticeably decreased, the effect of which is a decreased prize pool in poker rooms, which means that the professional poker players who were already doing well in earning will have decreased income. Also, their options to where they will be going for these exciting games will be reduced and it actually becomes a potential problem when people start to move to other countries or worse – start to look for ways to bypass these rules.

The future of online poker or any other forms of online gambling for that matter is slowly getting blurred away. Some professional poker players have turned to different poker sites instead, but will things turn for the better? Or will things gradually get worse for the world of online gambling and for its players?
