Poker After Dark to air PLO episode

Poker After Dark is going to attempt to do what ESPN was unable to do, make a non-No Limit Holdem game TV friendly! The news of Poker After Dark’s foray into PLO comes down to us from Cardrunners instructor Brian Hastings’ blog. Hastings blogged about his upcoming trip to Las Vegas to film the episode of Poker After Dark –which will be Hastings first televised poker appearance—which he reveals will be a $300/$600 PLO game.

Hastings had this to say regarding the game structure and potential lineup for the show, “The game will be 300/600 PLO (maybe with an ante?), 100k min buyin, and the lineup includes Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Phil Galfond, and I think 2 of Patrik Antonius, Sam Farha, and Brandon Adams, although I am not 100% positive.”

Hastings is a Team Full Tilt pro, and as I said Cardrunners instructor –he is also rumored to be a minor shareholder in the site— and was recently honored with producing the site’s 2,000th online poker training video, which happened to be a nosebleed PLO game with a similar lineup to his PAD foes.

In his blog he went on to say, “We will be taping tomorrow, and although unfortunately I will not be able to disclose results before the show airs, I will fill you in with the details that I can provide when I know them. I do know that the episodes will air sometime in 2011, although I’m not sure when yet.” This episode could either be the final nail in the coffin for non-Holdem games on TV, or could lead to more PLO episodes; we’ll have to wait until 2011 to find out!
