Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars have been something of rivals before the Black Friday Incident happened. PokerStars sat at the very top, with Full Tilt close at its heels. But when tragedy struck, these two were both left to pick up the pieces of their once mighty empires. PokerStars, however, fared a lot better than Full Tilt. Even through all the problems, they had managed to bounce back, keep a relatively strong player base and, most importantly, they were able to return the money of the US players with little delay. Full Tilt, on the other hand, pretty much lost everything. The final nail that sealed the site’s coffin was the suspension of its license to operate. The site was closed down and subsequently sold off to investors so that it could cope with its problems, both financial and legal. Of course, the one that benefited most from Full tilt’s misfortune was none other than PokerStars.

The Shutdown

The damage that the suspension of Full Tilt’s license to operate did was huge. Thousands of players were left hanging when the site closed down. Those who were remaining loyal to Full tilt Poker despite all the setbacks and the problems were left with no place to play – except, of course, for the reasonable alternative, which is PokerStars. PokerStars has improved its reputation vastly during the aftermath of the Black Friday incident, and it was only natural that the players came flocking to them when Full Tilt shut down. Nearly half of Full Tilt players went to PokerStars and it seems like that number will only increase as each day goes by. Others went to Party Poker and iPoker. Most Full Tilt players still remain hopeful and steadfast, refusing to leave the site in the event that the issue would be resolved soon, especially now that ownership has changed hands.

Full Tilt’s Tilted Situation

Indeed, this does not bode well for Fll Tilt, which was no doubt quite formidable before the black Friday incident. It’s hard to say if they will ever recover after this or if their reputation has been tarnished forever. Then again, that’s probably what the site gets for not having a back up plan in the case of a legal meltdown. PokerStars was, if not completely, adequately prepared for such an eventuality and they are now reaping the benefits of their swift response to crisis. Indeed, with this, PokerStars has further solidified its place at the top of the charts in the poker industry.
